No Franchise Purchase Required -- Washington State Approved Home Inspector Training

I field the calls from those individuals who are interested in the state approved home inspector education course that is available through Bellingham Technical College. Last night I received a call from a man in Vancouver, WA. He had been at the state website, which lists the approved education providers. Out of about a dozen providers, he said that the majority of them he talked to are either no longer offering the training, or, to obtain the training, he would have had to purchase a franchise.

I have heard that before from potential students. Several of the large national home inspection franchises have been approved by the state, as education providers, but the firms only make that training available to those individuals who buy a franchise. Makes sense! I was told, by students, that the average cost of a national franchise in home inspection runs in the high $20,000 to low $30,000 range. Of course, when buying a franchise, a student will receive marketing and startup help as well.

Any potential inspector, who wishes to obtain the basic education that is required by the state, in order to obtain a license, may contact Bellingham Technical College. The cost of the BTC four-week course and essential texts is $3,800 and that includes the 120 hours of fundamentals training and the 40-hours of field training -- no purchase of a franchise required! For information call 360-752-8796.
