Last time I took a Horizon flight a couple years back, honestly, I thought the price was ridiculously high. Maybe it still would be to where I was going -- simply a hop to Eastern Washington and the city of Pasco on business. It was on the order of $200.00 each way.
With that history in mind, I figured that it doesn't make sense to try to fly Horizon -- not cost effective. Then I saw the story in the local paper today. Horizon is offering $69.00 tickets to all sorts of desirable and relatively far away locations -- San Francisco, San Diego, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Oakland, Palm Springs, Phoenix, Reno and San Jose.
They are not direct flights. A person hops on Horizon in Bellingham, then transfers to Alaska Air at SeaTac. They state that the flight includes beverages, snacks, baggage check and other amenities not offered by some budget flights to similar destinations.
Fact is, I am not planning on going to any of those cities in the near future but, if I was -- or if you are -- then you might want to look into this. I know there are restrictions on when said trips may be taken -- booked by April 10 and travel dates from April 3 to May 31 of this year. I bring this up since I thought any Bellingham business travelers might want to check on this travel deal.

Steve - we had a start-up airline here last year offer $19 one way fares to Columbus and since my daughter lives 2 hours away in Cincinnati I bought two round trips. I couldn't manage to clear my schedule for the second trip but I didn't bat an eyelash at throwing away a round trip ticket at that price. On the one trip I took, the car rental bill is what killed me. Well, that carrier has now gone out of business. If I were you, I'd just fly somewhere just for a cheap get-away! These kind if deals only last so long.

Since things are so cheap, put Nutsy on the plane to San Jose and I'll meet him (assuming flights are cheap from Arkansas) and we'll tour the Winchester House. He'd go nuts in it! It is so much fun.

Ahh.... the Bellingham airport... They have done a lot there is the past few years... It was great bringing the baggage claim indoors... We fly Allegiant out of there quite often.. but you have to watch their pricing too... they change regularly... haven't flown Horizon, but as Alaska Card members, I can see that in the future...
Flying from Vancouver to Houston soon... Rates are amazing now... You can even get airfare from Seatac to Mexico for crazy prices... Check them out to get away from this crazy cold rain....

So Steve, have they lowered the price to Seatac? My wife flies to Denver every month for training, and since the Bellingham to Seatac fare has been steep she does better driving to Seatac and paying for parking. It would be great if she could leave from Bham. That Seatac drive becomes a pain.
