Firehall in Fairhaven

I went to lunch today with a friend. Due to lots of street work in the primary restaurant area in Fairhaven, we ended up at the firehall. This is at Harris and 14th Streets. It is a pretty neat idea. For most of my adult life this was a working firehall for the south side. It must be about 5 or 6 years ago that the city put in a new, big, modern firehall. This old building was vacated and has been refurbished and is a small cafe and also hosts live entertainment -- dancing, live performances, music. If you are wondering where there is room for all this, the answer is on the west side where they used to park the trucks. It is a nice looking wood floor and the seats come down from above. If you are ever in the neighborhood, it has great atmosphere, plants around it and it is a good spot to sit inside or outside. Today it was not crowded either.

It is beautiful. Amazing what a little imagination can do. Thanks for the great pic, I can imagine sipping cool blender drinks on that patio in the summer.

I've been to dance performances in this place.  It is a really intimate venue and has a resident dance troupe (all amateurs, but very dedicated.)

Deborah,

It is a bit up the street on Harris Street. Not too much so, but a bit off the main shopping area. Most of the performance events there are publicized, but one needs to look for the posters and ads.

The resident dance troupe does a variation on modern and ballet.  The performances are very well done and often have a bit of humor.  Since it is all volunteer, the dancers are very dedicated.
