Stoney Ridge Farm (Pumpkin Patch and Christmas Tree Farm) -- Whatcom County, WA

I wish that Stoney Ridge Farm in Everson had been around about 50 years ago when I was a youngster. Stoney Ridge Farm is, relatively speaking, quite a new and wonderful family owned addition to the Bellingham area and Whatcom County, WA.

I first heard about, and visited, Stoney Ridge Farm two years ago with my daughter and my grandson.  Stoney Ridge Farm has much to offer this time of year, Halloween, but the fun goes into Christmas.

First things first:

The farm has the largest pumpkin patch in the county.

The farm has a craft and giftshop, hay rides, farm animals and a goat walk for sure-footed goats.

Don't miss the food. They have hot dogs, cider and some of the most delicious pie I have ever tasted. The apple pie, for sure, had my grandson's stamp of approval.

And, of course, Stoney Ridge Farm has all of the props that allow us adults to be pretty foolish and, at the same time,  take advantage of marvelous photo opportunities.

Stoney Ridge Farm is open not only for the spooky time of year, but they open up again during the Christmas season. There is a live nativity in the barn, complete with farm animals and the exotic Moses the Camel.

Stoney Ridge Farm is a top-notch Christmas tree farm.  Below is a photo of some young trees that will be ready for harvesting in a few years. (I think the tractor is for atmosphere and not in use)

The full size trees, when they are decorated, look great and, being so fresh, they last for a long time. Here is a photo of one that resided at my house. We have purchased trees from Stoney Ridge Farm the past two years. We will be doing so again in 2010.

Stoney Ridge Farm is open daily on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday through October. And, they open up again, seasonally, for Christmas tree sales. At Christmas the farm has the same fun family atmosphere along with cider, apples and those famous pies -- berry, pumpkin and that award winning caramel apple pie.

Stoney Ridge Farm, and the menagerie, is located at 2092 Van Dyk Road, Everson, WA.

Thanks for stopping by,

Steven, I kinda wish that too. But it is still nice to know that some folks are reaching out to the community and giving city kids a taste of the country...

So, if the goats are so sure footed, why do they need a guardrail?

And which do you prefer being, a pumpkin tower or a cowboy?

I have a tree farm just around the corner from my house. We have been getting our Christmas trees there since moving into our house six years age. Sadly the farm is for sale. There are five acres of trees which I am sure will eventually become houses. Stoney Ridge sure sounds like a fun place for everyone.

"Visiting the farm" is very popular in my area.  There are several which are featuring pumpkins now but throughout the year, they feature other farm productions including animals.

They are always fun for the little ones.
