This incredible nature photo was taken here in Whatcom County. Rick Warren captured the image when an eagle swooped in and stole his friend's trout. This picture is a great example of the life style we experience here in the northwest.
This photo is from Lake Padden -- a popular lake in Bellingham. There were reports that sports fishermen had been losing their catches to a bald marauder. I guess those reports are right!
Even 30 years ago, when my wife and I used to canoe at Lake Padden, we would see a pair of eagles nesting in a tree top. I never dreamed that the species would become so bold over the years --bold bald eagles.

Hi Steven.
That is beyond so cool. Hey the Eagles have to eat too.
I would still be laughing if it was me. When I was in Michigan fishing near Vanderbilt at Cornwell flooding.
A lake in the woods, My son and I would watch the eagles come down and catch fish right in front of us.
Really, really neat to watch. Me... no camera at the time.
Have a good day and evening in Washington State.
Best, Clint Mckie
That is not bold. It is an eagle who has observed what humans in boats do and has determined that by far the fishing is easier from man than from a lake...
Please check out my latest blog and reblog for fellow active rainer, Melissa Grant, her nephew is missing.
Hate to do this on your post with the amazing Eagle, justdo not know how to spread the word!
Steve, That is great. I have been up there to Lake Padden. Once while fishing my buddy caught a bat on his fly when casting it.
I don't know if I would be awed or pissed.
Wow thats a great shot.
Bird fishing! Now thats a new one on me. I get that you use really fresh caught trout as bait, but do you need a liscence.
