You see the logo above. Often I have clients and realtors ask where the name came from. How did the name "King of the House" come into being? Ends up that my wife came up with the name one day. And, knowing my background, my roots, it makes lots of sense. As many of you know, I spent years in Bellingham broadcasting and engineering in electronics. I was in country music broadcasting for many years.
One of the all time classic songs of country music was Roger Miller and King of the Road. The wife came up with the company name because of that song. It was kind of like our own little inside scoop. It has been a good name for my business. Some people think it might be a franchise -- catchy name and all. Nope, just a local business that I own but I have a trademark on it. I paid a local graphics artist for the logo which people, also, like. Even now, almost 50 years since Roger Miller had that hit, people still "get it." They see the connection! In fact, I have had checks made out to King of the Road. I just endorse them! The other day, a young fellow said -- Oh, after the Randy Travis song, right? His dad said, nope, after the Roger Miller song. I chimed in with the dad and said that dad was right.
Then, when there are joksters who are artistic, such as that thorn in my side, Charles Buell, my corporate name is also fodder for silliness (above bootleg logo). It is so hard to keep one's dignity when standing in the rain.
